Quantum Computing

A quantum computer uses the quantum mechanical principles of superposition and entanglement to perform calculations. Computers today use bits to encode information in values of either 0 or 1. Quantum computers use quantum bits, or qubits. Qubits can take the value of 0, or 1, or the superposition of both of these values. This property alone opens the door to several new applications and has the potential to significantly increase computational speed.
